Frequently asked Questions
A cat café is a unique space where visitors can relax and interact with adoptable cats. While cat cafés vary in style, Playful Paws Cat Café focuses more on the "cat" than the "café." We offer a cozy environment with a few snacks, cold drinks, and an ameowzing selection of cat-themed retail items.
We partner with a local rescue to help find loving homes for adoptable cats. Our mission is to provide a happy, relaxed space where kitties can show off their personalities while visitors unwind, play, and maybe even find their furrever friend!
There is a visitation fee of $20 per person to enter the cat lounge. Visitors get 50 minutes with our feline residents to play, pet & cuddle. A cold drink from our cooler is included for you to enjoy during your session.
Children under the age of 8 years old are not permitted to enter the cat lounge. Infants under one year are the exception, but they must be held by parents (or secured in a car seat/stroller) at all times. This is to ensure the safety of our cats as well as your tiny humans.
There must be one adult for every two children under the age of 12 in the cat lounge. Children may not be in the cat lounge unsupervised.
That answer is definitely subjective (and not always accurate - cats do what they want, when they want). The cats are typically very active in the morning, and tend to nap in the afternoon. If you're looking to play - book earlier in the day, and if you're hoping for some snuggles - afternoons may be your best bet.
Capacity in the cat lounge is limited to ensure an enjoyable experience, so we encourage you to make a reservation in advance. We do gladly accept walk-ins when there is open availability.
Everyone is welcome to hang out in the cafe side, shop our merch area and peek at the cats through cat lounge windows.
Click Book A Visit to see real-time availability and select your desired time for your group. Payment is made online at booking, and you'll agree to our digital terms.
You'll receive an email confirmation, and changes can be made up to 24 hours in advance. Arrive early to grab a drink and snack while watching the kitties through the windows before your session starts!
The maximum number of people allowed in the cat lounge during each session is 8.
Cash is always appreciated, but we also accept credit, debit and Apple Pay.
All online reservations will require payment at the time of booking.
Reservations are encouraged but not required. Walk-in appointments will be accommodated based on availability.
All guests must agree to the Release of Liability Terms.
Groups or 8 or more will need to book a private time slot to ensure a positive experience is had by both our guests and our cats. Please visit the Events & Private Parties page for more details.
Please arrive 10 minutes before your scheduled time to get checked in.
If you are more than 15 minutes late, your spot(s) could be given to walk-ins.
If you need to cancel your reservation, please do so at least 24 hours in advance of your booking. If you cancel your reservation less than 24 hours before your booking, your reservation fee will be forfeited.

Yes! While our space is fairly cozy, we can hold small private parties and events. Head on over to our Events & Private Parties page for more information.
Each month, we host special kitty-inclusive events—check our Events & Private Parties page for the latest! You can also browse our cafe’s selection of cat-themed merchandise or enjoy a cold beverage from our cooler.
Not at this time.
Since we are not independently wealthy (bummer!), that money goes to keep the lights on, the heat/air going, the rent paid, and a cozy roof over our kitties’ heads. It also covers extra supplies that the rescue partners cannot provide, like kitty wipes, extra litter, treats, basic first aid supplies, etc. And finally, it helps us to pay our hard-working staff.
Our café is indeed wheelchair-accessible! Visitors may enter through the front door, enjoy the café space and visit the cat lounge.
We are located on Bend’s West Side, off of Century Drive and across from The Village Baker. There are plenty of parking spots in our lot and on the street, though some times of day are more crowded than others.
Absolutely! All of the cat food and litter at the café is supplied by our rescue partners. If you would like to donate cash, food, litter or any other supplies, they would very much appreciate it. You can drop those off at the café during business hours.
At this time, we do not have a volunteer program. However, you can reach out to our rescue partner, CCREW, to inquire about volunteer and foster opportunities.
We like to think so! We average 3-4 adoptions per week. That's 3-4 cats who may not have had the same exposure to potential adopters if they were in a shelter or a foster home environment.

We limit the number of visitors in the cat lounge at one time to maintain a calm and comfortable environment. Our team closely monitors the cats for any signs of illness or stress and takes immediate action if needed. While some cats may experience stress during their first few days, they typically adjust quickly with time, care, and a safe, low-stress setting.
The adoptable cats and kittens at Playful Paws Cat Café come from our rescue partner, CCREW. Think of us as an oversized foster home dedicated to increasing cat adoptions in Central Oregon.
Unlike a traditional shelter, our café offers a relaxed, home-like setting where cats can roam freely, socialize, and show off their true personalities—helping those who might not shine in a kennel environment find their purrfect match. Your visit supports this unique model, keeping felines out of shelters and leading to more successful adoptions!
Please see our Adoptions page for details.
The cats have free reign of the cat lounge 24-hours a day, so they can sleep wherever their hearts desire.
Regrettably we can’t do intake. Cats need to be cleared by a vet before they are introduced to our colony. Please reach out to CCREW or the Humane Society of Central Oregon if you have a cat that needs re-homing.
The health of our adoptable cats is the highest priority of the Café and our partner. All of our cats have had a veterinary exam which includes visual screening for ringworm, fecal testing, testing for fiv & felv, and have been treated for worms, fleas & ticks. They have also been spayed/neutered and are up-to-date on vaccinations. Some, but not all, of our cats have been microchipped.
We perform regular deep cleans of our cat lounge and monitor the kitties every day for potential illness. Just like with people though, sometimes the kitties are asymptomatic (not showing signs of illness) while they are with us and end up getting adopted and going home.
Your cat may have a cold when you get them home. Cats are subject to an airborne virus disease that is very similar to the common cold experienced by humans. It is called URI (Upper Respiratory Infection), and is a common occurrence when lots of cats live together.
If your new family member is showing signs of illness, we recommend contacting your vet for a check-up appointment.
